Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth to visit Nepal from August 17 to 19
New Delhi, Aug 16: Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth will undertake an official visit to Nepal from August 17 to 19 to further strengthen defence cooperation and military-to-military ties between the two neighbouring countries, the Army said on Sunday. During his three-day visit, General Seth will hold meetings with senior Nepalese military and civilian officials and discuss issues of mutual interest. On August 17, the Army Chief will lay a wreath at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel and receive a Guard of Honour at the Nepali Army Headquarters. He will also meet the Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepali Army and receive a briefing from the Director General Military Operations of the Nepali Army. General Seth will later attend an investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhawan, where Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel will confer on him the Honorary Rank of General of the Nepali Army. The conferment of the honorary rank is part of the unique tradition between the Indian and Nepali armies, under which the army chiefs of the two countries are accorded honorary general ranks by the other country. On August 18, General Seth will address student officers undergoing the Army Command and Staff Course at Shivapuri.
