ODI World Cup: Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has strongly questioned the team management's handling of Kuldeep Yadav and has urged them to give the left-arm wrist spinner more opportunities in the lead-up to the 2027 ODI World Cup. In the six-wicket win over England at Edgbaston, India picked finger-spin bowling all-rounders Axar Patel and Washington Sundar ahead of Kuldeep. In this Indian team, I will say this again. Both finger-spinning all-rounders will not fit into the combination for the 2027 World Cup. Whenever Kuldeeps place is made, and Harshit Rana is fit and firing, Harshit Rana becomes the third seamer. Then it opens up a slot for Kuldeep. Kuldeep should get more backing. In that World Cup, Kuldeep Yadavs bowling was very important. He is a match-winning spinner. He can bowl in any phase. 'They Made Me Understand My Game': Sundar Credits Gambhir, Nehra For Batting Prowess
Washington Sundar: India all-rounder Washington Sundar credited head coach Gautam Gambhir and Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for helping him develop greater clarity as a batter after playing a pivotal unbeaten half-century in India's six-wicket win over England in the opening ODI at Edgbaston, saying their guidance has played a major role in his evolution across formats. Sundar remained unbeaten on 52 while sharing an unbroken 102-run partnership with Axar Patel to steer India to a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. His knock marked his maiden ODI fifty and capped another important contribution with the bat after assuming varied roles for both India and in franchise cricket over the last few seasons. Reflecting on his development as a batter, Sundar said preparation and the confidence shown in him by those around him have been instrumental. I try and prepare really well. As much as possible (with) preparation, I make sure I do it to the T. I give a lot of importance to preparation, and I am so grateful that people have always had faith in my skill set. Here, Gautibhai (Gautam Gambhir) always made me understand what exactly I could do with the bat, especially, and made me understand my game as well. And even Ashish Nehra in GT, he's always made sure, like he's helped me understand myself a lot more, be it as a person or as a cricketer on the whole. So, I'm honestly grateful for the fact that I've got such people around me who are actually helping me become a better cricketer every single day, Sundar told reporters during the post-match press conference. I think that's very important, especially for me. As an all-rounder, I think it's really important to keep looking to improve every single day and understand my game and obviously play according to situations. Playing a lot of games also helps you get to be in those situations, understand what exactly you can do and you have a lot of learning as well. So, yes, I'm so grateful that I've got such people who have always had faith in my skill sets and also made me understand what exactly I could do in different skill sets, he added. Sundar has been entrusted with multiple batting responsibilities over the years, ranging from opening in first-class cricket to batting in the middle order and finishing games in white-ball formats. He said embracing those changing responsibilities has helped him become a more complete cricketer. Over the years, I've understood the fact that I need to keep improving my skill sets, which will help me whenever the situation arises. And the fact that I play different roles is exciting. Not many people get to play different roles. I get to sort of play those different roles and be in those different situations. And obviously, I try my best to help the team win. Its exciting to sort of be in different situations and different phases of the game. But as I said, every single day, it's important, especially for me, to keep improving. As I said, we play different formats in a short span of time. So, there's hardly any change you could do between switching formats. I think, on the whole, as much as I could prepare really well, I think I'll be ready when the situation arrives. That's the mindset, he stated. Gujarat is one of Indias strongest outbound travel markets, driven by its entrepreneurial culture, large global diaspora, and relatively high disposable incomes. Outbound travel from the state is primarily driven by business, leisure, religious tourism, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR). The market continues to demonstrate strong growth, with increasing demand for short-haul international holidays of 37 days, luxury and customized travel experiences, online travel bookings, cruise tourism, MICE travel, and destination weddings. The roadshows witnessed an overwhelming response, attracting more than 550 travel agents and over 60 media representatives across the three cities. The events served as an effective platform for networking, business discussions, and promoting Sri Lankas diverse tourism offerings to the Gujarat travel trade. The events were attended by representatives of key travel and trade associations, including the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), South Gujarat Association of Travel Agents (SATA), Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), Travel Agents Association of Saurashtra (TAAS), and the Tour Operators and Travel Agents Association of Gujarat. The Sri Lankan delegation included Mr. Rakesh R Shah, Hon Consul for Sri Lanka, State of Gujarat, Mr. Nalin Jayasundera, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO); Mr. Fawzan Fareid, Regional Manager India, Bangladesh and Nepal, SriLankan Airlines; Mr. Suman Udhayakumaran, Manager Western India, SriLankan Airlines; and Ms. Shirani Herath, Assistant Director of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB). The timing of the Gujarat roadshows was particularly significant, coinciding with the launch of FitsAirs direct flights between Ahmedabad and Sri Lanka, which commenced operations on 19 June 2026. The introduction of this new direct air connectivity is expected to further strengthen tourism and business ties between Gujarat and Sri Lanka while making the destination more accessible to travellers from Western India. The successful conclusion of these promotional events reinforces SLTPBs commitment to expanding its presence in the Indian market, fostering stronger partnerships with the travel trade, and positioning Sri Lanka as a premier short-haul destination offering diverse experiences, world-class hospitality, rich cultural heritage, and exceptional value for Indian travellers. The roadshows brought together 48 leading Sri Lankan travel and tourism companies, including SriLankan Airlines and FitsAir, providing an excellent platform to strengthen business partnerships and promote Sri Lanka as a preferred travel destination among the Indian travel trade.
