DIG chairs crime, intelligence, security review meeting in Poonch

In continuation of the ongoing efforts to strengthen the security grid across border district Poonch, particularly in view of the prevailing security scenario and the forthcoming Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra, DIG Rajouri-Poonch police range, Sandeep Wazir chaired a comprehensive crime, intelligence and security review conference at the District Police Office (DPO), Poonch, to review the operational preparedness, intelligence mechanisms and crime control measures in the district. The meeting was attended by SSP Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, DySP Headquarters Poonch Neeraj Sharma, SHO Police Station Poonch, SHO Police Station Mandi, SHO Police Station Loran, Investigating Officers, and other senior police officers. During the conference, the DIG conducted a detailed review of the prevailing security scenario, intelligence gathering mechanisms, crime trends, anti-terror operations and security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra. The officers briefed the chair regarding the existing security architecture, operational preparedness, intelligence inputs, area domination measures, naka deployment, and ongoing efforts to identify, prevent and neutralise any threat to public safety and security. Emphasising the need for sustained vigilance, the DIG directed all officers to maintain a high level of alertness, strengthen coordination among various police units and security agencies, and ensure seamless flow of actionable intelligence. He stressed the importance of further reinforcing both human intelligence (HUMINT) and technical intelligence (TECHINT), besides intensifying area domination, surprise checking, night patrolling and surveillance in vulnerable areas to effectively counter terrorist activities and safeguard peace in the district. A comprehensive review of crime was also undertaken, with special focus on the investigation of cases registered under the UAPA, NDPS Act and other heinous offences. The DIG directed the Investigating Officers to conduct professional, impartial and time-bound investigations by making optimum use of scientific evidence, forensic examination, digital investigation techniques and the provisions of the new criminal laws to ensure successful prosecution of offenders. The DIG also stressed the importance of maintaining strict vigil against narcotics trafficking, anti-national elements and organised criminal networks. He reiterated that District Police Poonch shall continue to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against terrorism, drug trafficking and all forms of organised crime while ensuring people-friendly policing, public outreach and close interaction with local communities to further strengthen public confidence and maintain lasting peace in the district. SSP Poonch assured the chair that all directions issued during the conference would be implemented in letter and spirit, and that District Police Poonch remains fully committed to maintaining a robust security environment through proactive policing, effective intelligence-based operations and professional investigation of criminal cases.
