Arshad Warsi on his small role in Shah Rukh Khans King: I love the Khan family, so I did it
Shah Rukh Khans upcoming film King continues to generate considerable buzz, with the Siddharth Anand directorial bringing together an impressive ensemble cast. The action entertainer stars Shah Rukh Khan in the lead and features Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Raghav Juyal and Arshad Warsi, among others. In an exclusive conversation with Filmfare, Warsi opened up about his association with the highly anticipated project and revealed details about his role. According to Warsi, his part in King is relatively small. However, the limited screen time was never a concern for the actor when he was approached for the film. Instead, his fondness for Shah Rukh Khan and his family played a major role in his decision to come on board. Warsi has already shared a professional connection with the Khan family. He previously worked with Shah Rukhs son Aryan Khan on his debut show, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*. Recalling how he responded when both Aryan and Shah Rukh approached him for their respective projects, Warsi explained that his affection for the family made the decision easy. In King, I have just got a little role. I love the Khan family. When Aryan called me up for The Ba***ds of Bollywood, I did it. When Shah Rukh called me up for King, I did it. It is a small bit that I have done. I just like them. So I did it, Arshad told Filmfare. Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on December 24, 2026. Meanwhile, Warsi has several projects in the pipeline. He will next be seen in Jeevan Bheema Yojana, a dark comedy in which he plays a double role. He will also feature in Tigmanshu Dhulias Ghamasaan, which is set to premiere on ZEE5 on September 11. Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharths first home together in Chennai offers a glimpse into their shared life and individual personalities. Spread across 4,000 square feet on the 18th floor, the apartment combines expansive city views with an eclectic mix of art, patterns, vintage pieces and personal memorabilia. The Chennai residence already had a distinctive aesthetic that appealed to the couple. Designer Pavitra Rajaram later helped personalise the space, adding elements that reflected Aditi and Siddharths tastes while maintaining the apartments existing character. For Aditi, the home is closely connected to her appreciation for beauty and everyday living. She enjoys following the movement of sunlight through the rooms and has a clear idea of how beautiful objects should be used rather than simply displayed. Recalling something her aunt once told her, Aditi said, Beautiful things are not meant to be kept in cupboards, they should be used. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Architectural Digest India (@archdigestindia) Siddharth, meanwhile, particularly appreciates the apartments sense of continuity. He describes its long throw as his favourite feature, referring to the way the different areas of the home flow into one another. The layout creates an open and connected feel across the residence. The more private corners of the apartment reveal the couples individual preferences. Aditi had a specific vision for the principal bedroom, opting for a four-poster bed surrounded by plenty of patterns. Elsewhere, the foyer and passages feature a vintage Turkish runner, a teakwood study desk, a Burmese lacquer box, a cast brass butter lamp and vintage Japanese woodblock prints. The couples art collection, built over time, adds another layer of personality to the home. Rather than resembling a carefully staged showroom, the apartment has been designed to feel lived-in, personal and connected to their experiences. More about Aditi and Siddharth Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth tied the knot on September 16 in the presence of their family and close friends. The couple held their intimate wedding at a 400-year-old historic temple in Wanaparthy. Besides Chennai, they also own homes in Mumbai and Hyderabad. On the work front, Siddharth was last seen in Operation Safed Sagar, which has been receiving a positive response from audiences. The series also features Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Dia Mirza, Prajakta Koli, Adil Hussain, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina, Arnav Bhasin and Amrita Bagchi in key roles, among others. Shalini Passi has emerged as one of the standout talking points of The Traitors Season 2, with her candid reactions and unfiltered observations frequently becoming highlights of the reality show. While the series is centred on deception, strategy, alliances and betrayals, Shalinis presence added a distinctly humorous element to the season, with several of her one-liners making their way into conversations online. Throughout her stint in the palace, Shalini delivered a number of spontaneous moments that showcased her self-aware sense of humour. Whether she was unable to recall Munawar Faruquis name, openly embracing being called delusional or describing herself as gadhi, her comments often stood out amid the intense gameplay. Heres a look at some of Shalini Passis most memorable one-liners from The Traitors Season 2. Muje bahut acha lagta hai reality se dur rehne mein. Mere friends muje delusional bolte hai, I love it Shalinis willingness to embrace her own quirks became apparent early in the show. Rather than rejecting the delusional label, she acknowledged it with humour, offering viewers a glimpse into her personality beyond the gameplay. 80-85% contestants in the palace know me and Man, man, Manya what's his name? Jo comedian hai na, Maanyavar, kya naam hai unka? Her inability to remember Munawar Faruquis name became one of her most talked-about moments. The repeated attempts to identify the comedian, along with Munawars reaction, turned the exchange into an entertaining highlight. Traitors sochte hai main harmless hu, intelligent nahi hu but har situation mein intelligence dikhane ki zarurat nahi hoti Shalini also showed that she was observing the game closely. Her comment about being perceived as harmless reflected her understanding that being underestimated could potentially work to her advantage. You have to win the war, not the battles The statement reflected a more strategic side of Shalini as she focused on the larger game rather than individual confrontations. Mereko raatko neend nahi aayi. Mereko raatko vo log ke shaklein dikh rahi hai Her reaction to the masked figures associated with the Traitors provided another lighter moment. Shalinis animated response to the growing paranoia inside the palace added to the humour of the situation. Tu gullible hai, aur main gadhi hoon The self-deprecating line became another memorable example of Shalinis distinctive humour and delivery. Woh hai hi nahi Dolce, sab jhooth bol rahi hai During a conversation involving Mallika Sherawats claims about wearing a Dolce dress, Shalinis disbelief became another entertaining moment from the season. While The Traitors Season 2 has been driven by its strategy and unpredictable twists, Shalini Passis candid personality has provided a different kind of entertainment. Her spontaneous reactions and one-liners have become a memorable part of the seasons conversations. Raghubir Yadav and Anshuman Jhas upcoming father-son drama comedy has undergone a title change. Originally titled Hari-Om, the film will now be released as Om Ka Hari. The change comes after the makers, First Ray Films, were unable to secure the rights to the original title from Tips. According to the makers, the title Hari-Om had been used for a film over two decades ago, with the rights currently held by Tips. Since the company did not agree to part with the title, the team decided to retain the essence of the original name while giving the film a new title that also connects directly with its central characters. Anshuman Jha, who plays Om in the film, explained the reasoning behind the change. He said, Yes, the film was originally going to be called Hari-Om but because we didn't get the title rights, we did the next best thing. Om & Hari are deeply spiritual words, culturally resonant with our great nation & Harish Vyas wanted to express the Father Vs Son Dynamic through the names of the characters which is Om & Hari. Om Ka Hari-the tiele is a testament that a son eventually does become the father & the father becomes the son in a deeper sense and that life itself is circular. And therefore Om Ka Hari is the most appropriate title for this picture. Directed by Harish Vyas, Om Ka Hari revolves around the relationship between a father and his son. The shift from Hari-Om to Om Ka Hari also reflects the dynamic between the two characters, with the names Hari and Om forming an integral part of the films central theme. The film stars Raghubir Yadav as Hari and Anshuman Jha as Om, alongside Soni Razdan, Ayesha Kapur and Samta Sudhiksha in key roles. The story explores the evolving equation between a father and son while examining the cyclical nature of relationships and generations. Produced by First Ray Films, Om Ka Hari is scheduled to release exclusively in cinemas in September 2026. Swara Bhasker has revisited the controversy surrounding her 2018 open letter to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after watching Padmaavat. Years after the films release, Swara explained that the debate around her letter largely focused on one particular line, while the broader concerns she raised about women, sexual violence and the portrayal of jauhar received less attention. Speaking at an event hosted by the India International Centre (IIC) in Delhi, Swara recalled her reaction to the films climax. Padmaavat, starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, was released in January 2018 following months of controversy. Inspired by Malik Muhammad Jayasis 16th-century epic poem Padmavat, the film revolves around Rani Padmavati and the conflict between Rajput ruler Ratan Singh and Alauddin Khilji. Swara said the depiction of jauhar, in which hundreds of women collectively die by self-immolation, made her question the message being conveyed to survivors of sexual violence. Im watching this, these 800 women committing jauhar, and I was like, yaar, if I had been, God forbid, if I was a rape survivor, what is this film telling me? I would feel like a coward, that I didnt kill myself to save my honour. Is that what you want to tell in a society like ours, where I feel like theres anyway a rape epidemic? she said. She further questioned the connection between a womans life and the idea of sexual purity. Is this what we want to tell our survivors, that you didnt deserve to live? That if you actually had been honourable and brave women, you would have killed yourself. Are we saying that rape is the end of a womans life? she said. Swara also recalled being particularly disturbed by a close-up of a pregnant woman during the jauhar sequence. And then there was that one shot, it made me so mad, I was like, chiii, in the audience loudly. There is a close-up of a pregnant womans belly. And she is going, so youre saying that a foetus that might be female doesnt deserve to be born, because she might be raped by a Muslim ruler? she said. The actor clarified that she did not write her open letter immediately after watching the film. Instead, she waited five days to reflect on her response. And then I came out and I was like this is terrible. And normally people think that I do these things out of rage. But I waited for five days. And I was like, let me check if I still feel like this. And then at the end of five days, I wrote this letter, she recalled. Published by The Wire in January 2018, the letter questioned the glorification of jauhar and the portrayal of womens worth through sexual purity. Swara said the subsequent discussion, however, focused heavily on one phrase from the letter. I just want to say that when it got published, there was one line in the letter where I was trying to say that women are more than their private parts. And watching this film made me feel that Im reduced to a vagina, she said. The 31st Busan International Film Festival has unveiled the trailer of Selvi, the upcoming Tamil-language drama produced by and starring National Film Award-winning actor Anjali Patil. Directed by debut filmmaker Sailesh Rathnakumar, the film has been selected for the prestigious Vision Asia section of the festival and is set to have its world premiere at Busan in October. Selvi is one of only two Indian films selected for the Vision Asia section, which features a curated lineup of 11 titles from across Asia. The films selection marks another international platform for Indian independent cinema and comes ahead of its world premiere. The trailer introduces Anjali Patil as Selvi, a migrant home-care nurse whose daily life revolves around caring for others. As the narrative progresses, the film explores her experiences as a migrant worker while gradually revealing the personal circumstances and choices that shape her life. The story brings together themes of migration, female friendship, caregiving and the emotional toll of everyday work. What begins as an intimate portrait of a woman navigating her professional and personal responsibilities gradually develops into a deeper exploration of labour, dignity, survival and the complexities of human relationships. Speaking about the film and its selection at Busan, Anjali Patil said, Migration and caregiving are two subjects that the world has been discussing at length. People move across borders in search of work and dignity, while caregivers often become the backbone of families and communities, carrying emotional and physical responsibilities that remain largely unseen. With Selvi, we wanted to bring an Indian point of view to these very global conversations. This is a story rooted in our realities, our people and our lived experiences, but the questions it raises about migration, care, labour, dignity and survival belong to the world. To now have the trailer of the film unveiled at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival feels meaningful. Independent cinema thrives on the freedom to ask difficult questions, to look at lives that don't always make it into the mainstream narrative. So as an actor and producer, it feels liberating to see Selvi find this platform. Director Sailesh Rathnakumar added, For a debut filmmaker, having your work recognised on a global stage is a dream, but having the Busan International Film Festival unveil its trailer is an absolute honour. Selvi grew from an observation that Bargav had made during the pandemic, of home-care workers who cross borders and leave their own families behind to care for ours. That observation stayed with us and became the starting point for this story. To see BIFF champion this narrative as one of only two Indian films in the Vision section is especially validating. It underlines how localised, intimate stories can find a universal resonance. We made this film with patience and a deep commitment to authenticity, and we cannot wait to share Selvis world with an international audience this October. The film features Vinoth Kishan, Swathy Krishnan, Raja Krishnamoorty, Archana Padmini and Mekha Rajan alongside Patil. Nine-time National Film Award winner A. Sreekar Prasad has edited the film, while Bargav Sridhar serves as co-writer and cinematographer. Anand Krishnamoorthi has handled the sound design, with Suren Vikhash composing the music. Selvi is co-produced by the Red Sea Fund, an initiative of the Red Sea International Film Festival, and supported by Hong Kong Asia Film Financing. The film will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival in October. Also Read: Vaibhav Tatwawaadi and Anjali Patil wrap up the shoot of their next romantic feature film
