ADGP Armed J&K Nitish Kumar, on Wednesday chaired a preparatory meeting at the Conference Hall of Armed Police Headquarters (APHQ) J&K to review and finalise arrangements for the sports events. The proposed sporting activities include the Pedal for Peace Cycle Race in September, Jashn-e-Dal in September, the Run for Unity Kashmir Marathon in October, and the 21st Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament, also scheduled for October. During the meeting, Nitish Kumar stressed the need for meticulous planning, close coordination among all stakeholders and timely completion of arrangements. He reviewed preparations related to logistics, security, traffic management, medical cover and publicity and directed the concerned officers to ensure that all arrangements are put in place well ahead of the scheduled events. He said such initiatives are aimed at promoting a culture of sports, encouraging greater participation of youth and providing opportunities to identify and nurture emerging sporting talent. Referring to the Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament, the ADGP said the event also serves as a tribute to police personnel and other brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Earlier, DySP Sports, APHQ, Kuldeep Hondoo gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the proposed arrangements, including the constitution of various committees and sub-committees for the smooth conduct of the events. The meeting was attended by senior officers, including retired IGP S. A.
