Srinagar-Nalanda Dialogue:LG calls for strengthening Indias soft power, cultural diplomacy
J&Ks heritage guiding light for Viksit Bharat; let us lead with confidence, compassion Srinagar, Jun 20: Our goal is to revive India's great inheritances of knowledge and spirituality, strengthen civilisational traditions, and shape a future-oriented education that connects youth to both the past and modern technology, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Saturday. He said that good governance promotes culturaldialogue and together they shapethe moral, cultural, and human character of asociety, and formulateinclusive policies. Together, the scholars of Jammu Kashmir and Nalanda shaped one of the world's oldest living civilisations. This heritage is our guiding light. The SrinagarNalanda Dialogue is our opportunity to carry that light forward with wisdom, courage, and a new vision for Viksit Bharat, the LG said while delivering the keynote address at the Srinagar-Nalanda Dialogue, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Department of Culture, J&K, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (IGNCA), National School of Drama, and Nava Nalanda Mahavihara University. The Lieutenant Governor called for strengthening India's soft power andpromotion ofcultural diplomacy, stating that centuries ago, India's knowledge unified the globe, and today India can be the bridge the world needs. The world is watching. Let us lead with confidence and compassion, he said. Sinha said that youth have inherited a rich legacy of languages, beliefs, artistic traditions, philosophical schools, and varied ways of life, and that this diversity is our greatest strength. From Bihar to Jammu Kashmir, from the temples of Tamil Nadu to the monasteries of Ladakh, from the ghats of Kashi to the valleys of Kashmir, each region preserves its distinct cultural identity and rhythm of life. Our shared aim should be to weave these diversities into a harmonious unity that enriches the nation's collective consciousness, he said. He observed that Indian civilisation has always been defined by its centres of knowledge, with Nalanda, Takshashila, and Vikramashila serving as hubs of global intellectual exchange, attracting travellers from China, Korea, Java, Persia, and West Asia. Nalanda is a living intellectual cosmos of its time. Likewise, Jammu Kashmir was the unique Sharda Peeth of learning, drawing people from afar for instruction across disciplines from mathematics to music, he said. The LG noted that the host city, Srinagar, was established by Emperor Ashoka, and the dialogue reminds us that the moment has come to renew this tradition as a modern, relevant intellectual project. Ancient towns are living learning centres and cities such as Nalanda, Srinagar, Jammu, Purmandal, Varanasi, Hampi, Sanchi, Madurai, Puri, and Thanjavur carry centuries of experience and knowledge. We must strengthen the role of these towns through infrastructure development, heritage conservation, and platforms like the SrinagarNalanda Dialogue for cultural exchange, the Lieutenant Governor added. The event was attended by Padma Shri Prof Shafi Shauq, Ministry of Tourism Director General Suman Billa, Nava Nalanda Mahavihara University Vice Chancellor Prof. Siddharth Singh, National School of Drama Director Chittaranjan Tripathy, Festival Chairperson D Aaliya, Festival Director Ganga Kumar, Vice Chancellors of Central University of Kashmir and University of Kashmir, SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. The rise in the number of seats reflects the growing demand for medical education in Russia, the only foreign country at present to fully comply with the National Medical Commission of Indias latest norms set for medical education overseas. (L-R): Mr. Ravi Chandran. C, Mr. Valerii Khodzhaev, Mr. Alexander Dodonov, Dr. Berezhanskiy Pavel Viacheslavovich Spot admissions for MBBS and other programs can be made at the fair, which is scheduled to take place also in many locations in Tamil Nadu. It will be held between 10 am and 5 pm in Madurai on May 12 at Hotel Royal Court; Trichy on May 13 at Hotel Femina; Salem on May 14 at GRT Hotel Zibe; and Coimbatore on May 15 at The Grand Regent Hotel. There is no entry fee for the fair. For details about the programs and fair, students can call: 9282 221 221. The MBBS courses in Russia are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing them to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. As the courses are highly-subsidised by the government, they are also the most affordable, with the total fee, starting from as low as Rs. 3.5 lakh per annum. Indian students who have cleared National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and who have a minimum of 50% marks in the relevant core subjects/degrees (in the case of SC/ST and OBC students, the minimum marks is only 40%), can apply for MBBS courses in Russia. Tamil medium students can also apply. There are no pre-qualifying exams like CET, IELTS, etc. for admissions to universities in Russia. Students from India have been admitted to Russian universities for the last 60 years. Russia continues to be the top choice for Indian students seeking medical education abroad, as Russian universities proactively adhere to the changing norms and guidelines of Indias National Medical Commission (NMC) to ensure that their MBBS programs are well recognised in India. Every year thousands of Indian students step into Russia to get prestigious, globally recognised and affordable education. With a comprehensive curriculum, experienced faculty, and advanced facilities, Russian universities offer a robust learning environment for Indian students pursuing medical education in the country . Talking about scholarship programs, Mr. Alexander Dodonov said, As in the past, the Russian Government's annual 100% scholarship programs will award grants to more than 200 Indian students this year as well. This will enable them to pursue Bachelor's, Master's, Specialist, and Postgraduate Programs in Russia's leading universities free of cost. The cost of higher education is relatively cheaper because it is highly subsidised by the Government of the Russian Federation. Our universities also provide assistance as many have special adaptation programs and support systems for Indian students. Mr. Ravi Chandran commented that, There are more than 300,000 international students from 200 different countries enrolled in the 600-odd government universities across Russia. By and large, medicine is the most popular area of study among Indian students who choose to pursue their higher education in Russia. Currently, there are about 25,000 Indian students studying medicine in about 30 Russian universities that offer M.D, a degree equivalent to MBBS in India. All the Russian universities adhere to NMC guidelines - including the latest one issued by it in November, 2021 relating to the duration of the MBB program and internship, curriculum, medium of instruction (English), among others. The institutions have made sure that the safety of Indian students and their education are not impacted by the external geopolitical situations . tamil-nadus-first-tvk-cabinet-these-names-could-make-the-cut
Despite all the uncertainty over the Cabinet formation in Tamil Nadu after TVK failed to clear an absolute majority, speculations are rife about who will manage to get a berth in the new government. Just after the trend became clear, reports emerged that Vijay was in a huddle with his political advisor, John Arogyaswamy, who is instrumental in devising political strategies. Arogyaswamy is also said to be in the forefront of the discussions being held with PMK, and other parties, including the Congress and Left parties. Though the TVK still needs over 11 more MLAs to clear the majority mark, the names of big leaders in TVK who could land the ministerial berth are already doing the rounds. According to local media reports, Vijay Cabinet is likely to have a mix of experienced leaders and loyal administrators. The prominent among them is Bussy Anand, a former Pudhucherry legislator and TVKs general secretary. He is also the right-hand man of Vijay. Speculations are that he could be allocated a pivotal portfolio within the Cabinet. Given his instrumental role in strengthening the partys organisational structure, he is likely to be entrusted with key departments such as Home Affairs or Public Works. Sengottaiyan is another senior and experienced leader who left the AIADMK to join the TDP. He is likely to get a prominent berth in the Cabinet, and it could even be education. Aadhav Arjuna, a skilled election strategist, will get a prominent portfolio like Finance. Other names doing the rounds include CDR Nirmal Kumar, Arun Raj, Sathyabama, Dr. Prabhu, Madurai Kallanai, actor Srinath, Farwas, Tahira, Rajmohan, ECR Saravanan, and Vijay Saravanan. Meanwhile, Vijay has sent a letter to the Governor claiming the right to form the government. He stated that he is ready to provide a stable government in the interest of Tamil Nadu. He informed the governor that the party had secured 108 seats, and being the single largest party, it should be invited to form the government. We request an opportunity to demonstrate our majority, Vijay had said in an e-mail communication to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, a source in the TVK said. Tamil Nadu's acting Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will return to Chennai today. The Governor is said to be holding consultations with senior officials and legal experts regarding Vijay's letter.

TAVI: A Life-Saving Breakthrough Now Available for Aortic Stenosis Patients
For patients living with severe aortic stenosis, everyday life can become an exhausting battle. Climbing stairs, walking short distances, even getting dressed can leave a person breathless and drained. Left untreated, the condition, caused by a progressive narrowing of the heart's main outlet valve, can be life-threatening. Today, a procedure called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) is changing that reality. Dr Vivek Bose C is a highly experienced Interventional Cardiologist based in Madurai, with 25 years of clinical experience in the field of cardiology TAVI delivers a replacement valve directly into the heart through a thin, flexible catheter, typically inserted through the groin, with no large incisions, no stopping of the heart, and no open-chest surgery. The diseased valve is gently pushed aside and the new valve begins working immediately, restoring normal blood flow and relieving the strain aortic stenosis places on the heart and body. Hospital stays are short, recovery is gentle, and patients return to daily life far sooner. Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Madurai affirms, " TAVI represents a major advancement in our ability to treat high-risk cardiac patients safely and effectively ." A 73-year-old patient who underwent the procedure shared, " For months, I could not walk across the room without stopping to catch my breath. Within days of the procedure, I was walking to the garden, helping in the kitchen. I feel like myself again like I have come back to life ." Specialists emphasise that timely evaluation is critical. Anyone experiencing persistent breathlessness, fatigue, or chest discomfort should seek cardiac assessment promptly, because with TAVI, a better quality of life is within reach.
